Mount Brè Lugano Montebre, Switzerland’s sunniest mountain, offers a magnificent view of Lake Lugano, the city of Lugano, Mount Rosa (80 km away) and of Italy all the way to the Maritime Alps (230 km distant).

The enchanting village of Brè Lugano (altitude 800 meters, population 330), has kept its traditional charm and is embellished with artworks scattered through the center of town. “The Artistic-couse of Brè village” includes the works of 20 nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

A museum in the town center is dedicated to Wilhelm Schmid, an outstanding representative of the “Magical Northern Realism” movement that emerged in Germany in the 1920s. The impressive presence of treasured artwork in the village of Brè perfectly blends with the Lugano Cultural Center, both in the “LAC Lugano Contemporary Arts and Culture” and the Art Museum of Lugano.

Various trails lead to Mount Boglia (altitude 1516 meters), the Bolla Alp (altitude 1129) and Cureggia (altitude 655 meters).

A nature and archeological trail invites hikers to go down from Brè Lugano’s 800-meter altitude to Gandria, altitude 340 meters, a delightful village on the shores of Lake Lugano.
